It’s winter, a great time to relax indoors. Here are a few tips to make your room look warm and inviting

It’s cold outside, but your house need not reflect the climate outside. From candles to cushions, you can use many things to add to your home interior to cast that warm glow. Here’s how you can make your house winter-friendly...

Candles:

What can be a better way to add that warm glow to your room, than candles. They make the environment more lovely and the scented ones can help you relax in the comfort of your room. You can place your candles into the corners. But be careful to keep them away from curtains or table covers.

Lampshades:

You can make your room lighting winterwarm by replacing the standard light bulbs in your lampshades and overhead fixtures with goldhued candlelight bulbs. They will add a luxurious and romantic golden glow to your room. Lampshades add a warm glow to your room and give similar effects like the candle sans the scent. Place them near your reading tables. Avoid placing them at levels where they will reflect light straight at your eyes.

Blankets and cushions:

Use warm hues of white in plush fabrics for pillows, cushions, quilts, blankets and even foot rugs. They lend a cosy look and feel to the entire place.

Plants:

Brighten up the room with colourful plants. Cut some stems of flowering shrubs and place them in water. Bring in various colours and textures of greenery and place on sideboards, end tables or coffee tables to enhance décor. Create a bright and cheery centrepiece by adding a bunch of daisies or other brightly coloured flowers to the bottom of a clear vase with water. Anchor the stems of the flowers with colourcoordinated fruits like fresh cherries or lemon slices at the bottom.

Showpieces:

Create a new perspective and dimension to your room by introducing light and neutral textures and accessories, such as white frames, and prints with white or light backgrounds. By adding personal items like photos and kids’ artwork you can make the room cozy and warm.
