Please tell me about SAT, AIEEE and TOEFL. I am preparing for SAT, TOEFL and AIEEE

SAT, AIEEE and TOEFL test
Question: I am in FYJC science. I am trying for IIT but I want to know the other options in engineering. Please tell me about SAT, AIEEE and TOEFL and all other such engineering oriented entrance exams. I wish to utilise this year for maximum preparation of these exams. Would studying for IIT mean that I am preparing simultaneously for SAT, TOEFL and AIEEE?

Ans: AIEEE would enable you to apply for the regional engineering colleges or National Institutes of Technology (NITs) as they are now called and many other reputed engineering colleges.

For entry into the engineering colleges of Maharashtra state, you could use the AIEEE for a certain percentage of seats but for complete range of seats, you should also plan to appear for the Maharashtra Engineering CET.

Preparation for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination would enable you to appear for the AIEEE and the recently announced BITSAT for admission to BITS Pilani (if you fulfill eligibility requirements).

However, engineering entrance examination preparation would not be directly related to preparation for SAT or TOEFL. SAT and TOEFL scores are required by students who plan to pursue undergraduate studies in the United States. SAT is a test of verbal and quantitative ability and TOEFL is a test of your proficiency in the English language as is spoken in North America.

Part of the preparation for mathematics for IITJEE may be relevant to handle some areas of the SAT for assessing quantitative ability (especially the new SAT to be administered from May 2005). You will have your time completely taken up for serious preparation for IITJEE/AIEEE during your HSC/ plus two
